How Jackie Lou Blanco Stays In Great Shape In Her 50s

There are two things you'll notice when Jackie Lou Blanco walks into the room. First, she embodies grace and humility. The showbiz veteran always has a warm smile on her face, with an uncanny ability to carry any conversation with poise. Even with almost three decades of showbiz experience under her belt, Jackie Lou can make anyone in the room feel at ease.
Two, she looks young for her age. Perhaps it's her glowing skin, svelte figure, or the overall positive demeanor that gives off a more youthful vibe. At 56, the Kapuso actress balances her busy schedule between work (she still does regular appearances both on-screen and off-screen) and family. There's no doubt that Jackie Lou epitomizes a strong, successful, and happy woman who knows how to age gracefully.

In an exclusive interview, BeautyMNL chatted with her to find out how she stays healthy in her 50s. Watch the video or read below to find out more!

For starters, she still works out.
When it comes to fitness, Jackie Lou isn't calling it quits anytime soon. Her fitness queen status is supported by her self-titled home workout videos and a 2001 Slimmer's World Great Bodies Competition champion title as proof! She credits exercise as one of the main reasons why she looks younger. "If I can do it every day, I will. If time does not allow me talaga, then at least three times a week," she says.

Working out regularly also helped her during menopause. Although she experienced weight gain at first, she was able to stay in shape and burn off the extra pounds by incorporating fitness into her routine. Her
Instagram page is a testament to her active lifestyle—her workout videos show that she can still do an impressive range of exercises, from leg presses to push-ups and side planks!
She practices portion control.
When it comes to her diet, Jackie Lou allows herself to enjoy the foods that she enjoys. "I'mnot going to say no to sweets because I love it. "Kina-control lang ako sya," she says. Shestill allows herself a slice of chocolate cake or pizza from time to time.
Jackie Lou also follows the standard rules of healthy eating, such as drinking a lot ofwater, eating a lot of vegetables and fruits, and limiting her dairy and sugar intake. Whenpossible, she also opts for healthier versions when it comes to carbohydrates, such ascauliflower rice or sourdough bread.
It's important to prioritize and be realistic.
According to Jackie Lou, the first step can be identifying what's important for you andsticking with it. "For the things in your life that are important, hahanapan mo talaga siyang panahon," she says. When it comes to working out, for example, she makes sure toincorporate it into her daily routine—even if it's just 15 minutes. She says that even ashort activity, such as brisk walking, dancing, or even hula hooping, is better than notdoing anything.
Being realistic is just as important. Jackie shares that ever since she was young, hertummy was always her problem area. She's accepted it, but that doesn't stop her from livingan active and healthy lifestyle.
She also advises to figure out what works for your body first, because what worked for hermay not work for everyone. It can be as simple as knowing your body type. It can also beextensive, such as consulting with a nutritionist or even taking a food sensitivity test tofind out what foods you should avoid or eat less. "Be realistic, do what you can, beinformed, [and] be in tune with your body," she advises.
Having a positive outlook in life helps, too.
Jackie Lou also says being spiritual and staying positive help. It's the strong faith thathelps her overcome the challenges and still be grateful for everything. "It's my outlook inlife. I think more than anything if that's how you live your life, everything else willfollow," she says.
She also takes spirulina tablets.
